Why Traumatic experiences can recruit very strong emotions of PTSD and Anxiety

This article looks at studies that show one of the reasons that traumatic experiences are so emotionally powerful is that they are encoded by our neurotransmitters with not only the hormone Cortisol (stress hormone) but with Oxytocin (bonding hormone).
